South Portland Middle School students recently got to do a job shadow at Hadlock Field! ⚾ Students toured the facility and learned about the different jobs within the sports industry from the Sea Dogs staff. From creating and pitching their own theme night ideas to competing in an on-field race just like the ones fans love at games, students got a true behind-the-scenes look at the creativity, teamwork, and excitement that goes into this profession!

During World Cultures Day at South Portland Middle School, students celebrated and learned from the many cultures that make up our community through hands-on workshops and activities. From Challah making and Mi’Kmaq drumming to karate, dancing, cooking, rugby, and more, the day was filled with learning, connection, and fun.
Students explored new traditions, shared experiences, and celebrated the diversity that makes our school community so special. Thank you to all of the staff, students, families, and community members who helped make the day such a meaningful and memorable experience!

South Portland High School recently celebrated Community Week, a vibrant recognition of the diverse identities, cultures and experiences of our community. One of the highlights was the school-wide Culture Day Celebration, featuring a performance of “We Are the World” by The Chambers, a student-led flag ceremony, and an exciting futsal tournament that brought students together in a fun and meaningful way.

There will be a Special Board meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, April 29th at 6 p.m. in the South Portland High School Lecture Hall. At this meeting, as stated in a Superintendent communication, "The Board is expected to reconsider and overturn its earlier action, resulting in a delay of the school reconfiguration - likely to the start of the 2027-2028 school year."

The 39th annual Kids Fishing Derby hosted by the Scarborough Kiwanis Club will be held Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Bayley's Camping Resort! 🎣 (Rain date: Saturday, May 9.) This event is open to children 4 to 15 and must be accompanied by an adult. Adults are encouraged to bring a food donation (i.e. canned or other nonperishable food, etc.) or a $5 donation.

Last week, players from the Hearts of Pine Soccer Club visited Kaler Elementary! ♥️🌲⚽ They taught students the Hearts of Pine cheer, played a soccer game against the Kaler Cougar, answered student questions, and talked about the importance of teamwork.
